Kerrie studied drawing and painting at Edinburgh College of Art and then went on to teach in Edinburgh for a further three years. After deciding to leave teaching she went on to set up her own art clubs with her husband and teach art in local primary schools, giving her the opportunity to paint full time.
Kerry says ' i am inspired predominately by the city of Edinburgh, the Scottish landscape and surrounding coastline. I work mainly with oils and try to capture the ever changing facets of the weather and its effect on the landscape. Using broad brush strokes i try to capture the transcendence of rain clouds wisping over scoured fields, sea mists meeting shorelines and fleeting moments of sunshine dancing off dew on our mountains. My work is a meeting of sky and earth and i try on a daily basis to do justice to its rawness and beauty. '
